Keratin deficiency
Hair is made up of about 95% keratin. The body produces less and less from adolescence onward; coloring, heat, and UV accelerate the loss. The result: porosity, frizz, breakage, and color that doesn’t last.
KERABOND

What the treatment does

Two ways to sell it

  • Add-on to a color service: 5 to 10 extra minutes for the service. Complete the color, highlights, or relaxer according to the manufacturer's instructions, shampoo with a keratin-infused Keratherapy shampoo (not Clean Start), then resume the protocol at step 2.
  • As a stand-alone service: 30 to 40 minutes. Start with Clean Start. You can cut the hair while it processes (step 5).

Protocol

  1. Consultation, then Clean Start shampoo (stand-alone service) or your usual Keratherapy shampoo (after color service).
  2. Towel-dry; hair should be damp, not wet. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
  3. Divide into 3 or 4 main sections.
  4. Spray Color Lock & Smooth section by section and comb through to distribute evenly. Do not saturate or apply to the scalp.
  5. Leave on (refer to the application guide for processing time). Trim during this time if desired.
  6. Blow-dry with tension, then flat-iron according to the desired result: from simply smoothing the cuticle (keeping the curls) to completely straightening the hair.
After the service: The client should wait 24 hours before wetting their hair or using hair ties or clips. After that, results are guaranteed with Keratherapy keratin-infused home care products.

Never perform a color service and a formaldehyde-free treatment on the same day for long-lasting treatments: wait 15 to 20 days between the two. Color Lock & Smooth is the exception, designed to be applied immediately after coloring.

Complete protocol · BrazilianX ONE 9 steps · 2026 application guide

BrazilianX ONE works at the deepest molecular level for a smooth, shiny, long-lasting blowout. It serves as both a smoothing treatment and a deep conditioning treatment: nutrition, frizz, damage, and dryness are addressed in a single service, for all hair types, lasting up to 4 months.

The four technologies

  • Nanoplasty: nano-sized amino acids, organic acids, proteins, and oils penetrate the cortex to repair from within.
  • Taninoplasty: plant-based tannins (grape skin, chestnut, oak) restructure and hydrate from the outside by forming a new protein chain.
  • Hair Botox: fills damaged hair fibers with proteins, vitamins, antioxidants, and oils.
  • Keratin (KERABOND + BambooMiracle complex).

Key active ingredients

  • Proliss-100 (nanotechnology) · Tannic acid: strength, elasticity, shine
  • Hydroxypropyl gluconamide (bond multiplier): new hydrogen and ionic bonds
  • Hyaluronic acid · 11-amino-acid complex (arginine, aspartic acid, glycine, alanine…)
  • Moringa, argan, coconut, buriti, grapeseed, and meadowfoam oils; ginseng; panthenol

Dosage

  • Short hair: ½ to ¾ oz (15 to 22 mL)
  • Medium-length hair: 1 to 1½ oz (30 to 45 mL)
  • Long hair: 1 to 2 oz (30 to 60 mL)

The 9 steps

  1. Shampoo: Consult first (hair must be healthy enough for smoothing). Wash at least three times with Clean Start, from roots to ends, without massaging or scratching the scalp. Do not use conditioner. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
  2. Towel-dry: Dry with 3 towels. Hair should be damp, not wet; mist with water if it dries during application.
  3. Divide into 3 or 4 large sections.
  4. Measure the amount according to hair length and density (see dosage). Shake the bottle well.
  5. Application: Wear gloves and use an applicator brush, working in ¼ to ½ in. sections. Dab the product ¼ in. from the scalp, then every 1 to 1½ in. down to the ends. Massage it into the section, then comb through with a fine-tooth comb, working away from the face, to remove excess. Do not saturate; never apply to the scalp or skin.
  6. Processing: Cover with a processing cap and place under a warm dryer for 30 to 45 minutes.
  7. Rinse: Rinse with water for 10 to 20 seconds only to remove the excess. A small amount should remain in the hair. Do not shampoo.
  8. Blow-dry: Use medium heat to dry to 75-80% with the Keratherapy vent brush, then finish smooth with the thermal brush, maintaining tension, until 100% dry (cool or medium heat). Always work away from the face and nearby stations.
  9. Flat iron: start at the nape, using ¼ to ½ in. sections, from roots to ends until smooth and shiny. Always work away from the face. A test strand is recommended.

Porous or color-treated hair

  • Balance porosity: after Clean Start, spray a little Moisture Leave-In on the ends before applying the treatment.
  • Application on damp hair: use 3 towels; never blow-dry before application.
  • Residual odor may occur on very porous hair: refresh after the service with a leave-in (Moisture, Color Seal, KeratinFIXX 20-in-1, Totally Blonde, BambooMiracle All-In-One, or Root Boost).

Tips

  • Color your hair 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the treatment (at least 10 to 14 days apart) to preserve the color and hair integrity.
  • Always check the flat iron temperature before starting.
  • The three Clean Start shampoos are essential: they fully open the cuticle so the treatment can bond and last.
  • At-home care: clients can wash their hair immediately; no downtime is needed. Results are guaranteed with Keratherapy hair care products; leave-in products can be combined to suit their needs.
Warning: for professional use only by a licensed hairstylist. Not recommended for ages 12 and under. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have a respiratory condition. If it comes into contact with skin, rinse thoroughly; in case of eye contact or ingestion, consult a doctor.
