Balancing (dry, irritated, flaky)

  1. Consultation: examine the scalp in sections (redness, flakes, dryness, buildup) and ask about the client’s habits (styling products, washing frequency).
  2. Apply Balancing Pre-Wash Oil to a DRY scalp in sections, massage, and leave on for at least 3 minutes.
  3. Rinse, then apply Balancing Shampoo: lather, massage from the nape toward the crown with your fingertips, rinse.
  4. Apply Balancing Conditioner to lengths and scalp, detangle, rinse.
  5. Towel-dry; apply Balancing Leave-On Serum in sections to the damp scalp, massage gently, do not rinse.
  6. Relaxing massage for 5 to 10 minutes (circular pressure, gua sha from the center toward the temples), then style.

At home: Shampoo + Conditioner + Leave-On Serum; Pre-Wash Oil as needed, once a week as a course of treatment.

Stimulating (fine, thinning hair)

  1. Consultation: density, thinning areas, excess sebum, product residue.
  2. Stimulating Shampoo: lather, massage to clear the follicles, rinse. Repeat if there is a lot of buildup.
  3. Apply Stimulating Conditioner to the lengths, rinse.
  4. Squeeze out excess water; mist Stimulating Treatment section by section over the entire scalp, massage to stimulate circulation, do not rinse.
  5. Stimulating massage for 5 minutes (from the nape to the crown), then dry and style (Thickening Treatment, Root Effects for volume).

At home: Shampoo + Conditioner + Treatment with every wash. Steps 01-04 (Balancing) and 01-03 (Stimulating) follow the official L'ANZA order; massage duration and pricing: to be set by the salon, as covered in training.

L'ANZA documents provide the step order and directions (Pre-Wash Oil for 3 min on dry hair, Leave-On Serum on damp hair without rinsing); the massage protocol and total service time are as taught by Krystel Waite at the Sanctuaire du cuir chevelu workshop.
Complete protocol · Ultimate, Emergency Service, and Trauma Treatment

Ultimate Treatment (before any service)

  1. Step 1 · Chelating Shampoo on damp hair: lather generously, do not manipulate the scalp, rinse. Removes hard-water minerals, chlorine, and metal buildup.
  2. Step 2 · Deep Treatment + Power Booster: 1 pump of Deep Treatment + up to 3 pumps of Power Booster (Moisture for dry hair, Strength for weak or fragile hair, both for color-treated hair), 3 to 5 minutes, rinse.
  3. Step 3 · Moisturizing Mist (Healing Moisture), comb through, do not rinse, proceed with the service. For a perm, spray the Mist only after the service.

Trauma Treatment

Treatment / leave-in: distribute through clean, damp hair, do not rinse, style. Add-in: add 5 g of Trauma Treatment to a 30 g color formula (all Healing Color lines) or up to 5 g to 30 g of lightener; no change to processing time or developer. At home: apply the same way as a leave-in after shampooing.

Emergency Service (two phases)

  1. Wash with Keratin Healing Oil Shampoo (or the appropriate L'ANZA shampoo), rinse, and towel-dry.
  2. Apply Thermal Therapy · Part A evenly throughout the hair; cover with a plastic cap; medium heat for 10 minutes; rinse with lukewarm water and squeeze out excess water. Do not comb.
  3. Cream Cure · Part B distributed throughout the hair, without rinsing. Blow-dry or air-dry, then style with L'ANZA styling products.

Do not wash for 48 hours. Can be repeated every 48 hours as needed. Recommended after coloring, bleaching, or chemical processing; also as a post-lightening service after ColorCare Shampoo + Conditioner.

Technology: self-assembling peptides form an internal scaffold within the damaged fiber (A), to which the repair-rich ingredients attach (B). Enriched with Phyto-IV Complex.

Suggested service prices and exact Power Boosters chart by hair type (Power Booster Chart): not specified in current documents, confirmed during training.

Liquids Demi Gloss and Vibes

Glaze, tone, correct · direct dyes

Liquids: demi-permanent, 1:1 with Liquids Demi Gloss Activator (200 ml or 1 L), up to 20 min; in an applicator bottle (gently rock 3-5 times) or in a bowl (more agitation thickens the mixture). Code 06RR = 0 lift, 6 depth, RR family. Vibes: semi-permanent creams with direct dyes (Magenta, Red, Violet, Yellow, Smoke…), distinct from Healing Color, and intermixable.

Before, during, after

Color Attach Step 1 and 2 for color adhesion and longevity on porous hair; Color-Cleansing Shampoo to remove residue or excess pigment; Pro Color Pigment Remover (up to 3+ levels of artificial color, sulfate-free); Hair Color Stain Remover and Protective Barrier Cream for the skin. Perform a sensitivity test 48 hours before each application.

The 4 steps

  1. Determine the natural level (NL) near the scalp and the existing level (EL) on the lengths with the level finder.
  2. Define the target color (TC): lighter, darker, or the same level? How many levels? What underlying tone will appear?
  3. Use the tone chart: neutralize (NL 7 → target 9 beige: 9V + 20 vol.), enhance (NL 4 → target 6 copper: 6C + 20 vol.), counteract (NL 5 → target 7 cool dark blonde: equal parts 7P + 7A + 20 vol.).
  4. Formulate: formula 1 for the regrowth, formula 2 for the lengths and ends; use fine sections; process for the full development time. Take into account the percentage of gray hair, texture, condition, and density.

Application techniques

Traditional virgin hair: apply to the regrowth with a lower-volume developer, and to the lengths with the same color and a higher-volume developer (5N + 10 vol. / 5N + 20 vol.). Modern virgin hair: apply to the regrowth with the chosen developer; lengths = ½ regrowth formula + ½ of a shade 1 level warmer and 1 level lighter, with the same developer (5N + 20 vol. / 5N + 6G + 20 vol.). Retouch: apply color to the regrowth; refresh the lengths with Demi, Demi-Translucent, or Liquids.

B, V, R, C, G, S and P Mix: up to 25% of the formula on 30 g, maximum grams depending on level; strand test recommended. Always perform a sensitivity test 48 hours before application.
